Arizona State to Host Recent Legal Scholars Conference

On March 17, 2012, the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law will host the third annual ASU Legal Scholars Conference (formerly known as the Southwest Juniors Conference). The purpose of the conference is to gather together juniorish academics (those who have been in the academy for fewer than 10 years) to receive constructive feedback on their scholarship. The conference lasts all day, from 9am to 5pm.

There is no registration fee for the conference. The College of Law will host dinner and drinks the night before (Friday, March 16), and it will provide breakfast and lunch on March 17 during the conference. The only costs attendees have to bear are travel and hotel. (There is a link to hotel information at the top of this page.)

To register for the conference, click on the registration link at the top of the page. Each registrant should submit a paper. The paper can be a draft of a work in progress, a recently accepted piece, or even just a half-baked idea; the only limitation is that it should not be a piece that is already published (because the whole point of the conference is to get feedback to improve the piece). Based on the subject of the paper, each conference attendee will be assigned to a group of other attendees with similar scholarly interests. The members of each group will read the papers of the other members of the group, and then provide feedback on those papers.
