
On December 8, 2016, Professor Victoria Sahani participated in a London meeting of the Third-Party Funding Task Force, jointly organized by the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London. Prof. Sahani is a co-chair of the Sub-Committee on Arbitrator Conflicts of Interest, and she co-presented the Subcommittee’s Draft Report to the Task Force.
The mission of the Third-Party Funding Task Force is to study and make recommendations regarding the procedures, ethics, and policy issues relating to third-party funding in international arbitration. The Task Force is comprised of representatives drawn from among all relevant stakeholders and interested members of ICCA. Its work will be published in a series of Reports and presented in a number of public colloquia. The next public colloquium entitled “Commentary on the Report of the ICCA/Queen Mary Task Force” will be jointly hosted by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) and the American Society of International Law (ASIL) on April 12, 2017 in Washington, DC. The final version of the published Reports will be presented at the 24th ICCA Biennial Congress in Sydney, Australia on April 15-18, 2018.
