Faculty members of the Washington and Lee University School of Law recently shared their scholarship or service at the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).
The meeting is a professional conference of law school professors and administrators, typically held in a major U.S. city every winter. In 2021, it took place in virtual format between January 5 and 9. The conference’s theme this year was “The Power of Words.”
Several W&L Law professors presented their research and spoke as award presenters or panelists.
- Kish Parella was a presenter on a panel entitled “The Power of Supply Chains” (Tuesday Jan. 5, 2:45-4:00 pm)
- Carliss Chatman was a presenter on a panel entitled “Law and Legal Education: Teaching Commercial Law in the 21st Century,” sponsored by the Section on Commercial and Consumer Law and co-sponsored by the Section on Teaching Methods and Technology (Tuesday, Jan. 5, 4:15-5:30 pm), and on another panel, “Spreading the Word – Law Professors as Teachers, Scholars, and Legal Influencers,” sponsored by the Section on New Law Professors (Friday, Jan. 8, 2:45-4:00 pm)
- Chris Seaman presented a new research project, “Trade Secret Injunctions’ Scope,” on a panel entitled “Remedies in Uncertain Times” sponsored by the Section on Remedies (Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1:15-2:30 pm)
- Sarah Haan was a presenter on a panel “New Developments in Socio-Economics – Does Shareholder Primacy Exacerbate Racial, Gender, and Economic Inequality?” sponsored by the Section on Socio-Economics (Thursday, Jan. 7, 4:15-5:30 pm), and “Election Law Works-in-Progress, New Voices in Election Law” panel by the Section on Election Law (Saturday, Jan. 9, 4:30-5:50 pm).
- Cary Shelby served as moderator/presenter for the awards ceremony by the Section on Minority Groups honoring Carliss with the Derrick A. Bell, Jr. Award (Saturday, Jan. 9, 12:30-1:30 pm).
